Festival photography is dynamic and a constant challenge as there are multiple artists on the stage, people are always moving, and there are several areas to cover.
For the 2020 Australia Day concert, the challenge was a bit different.
We were coming out from the peak of the devastating bush fire season, and the feeling of danger was still overwhelming.
Few days before the event, the council decided that to cancel the fireworks.
Even though this was the right decision, and all the artist were great at engaging the public, the numbers were well below previous community events.
On the one hand, this makes crowd pictures with a lot of people more difficult to capture. Still, on the other hand, it gave me more time to find and patiently wait for the right moment to shoot candid opportunities with a more personal touch to the Australia Day concert experience.
